Vice President of Operations – Data Center & Structured Cabling
Location: Forest Hills, MD Company: Next Level Technician About the Opportunity Next Level Technician is seeking an experienced and driven Vice President of Operations to lead and optimize field operations, technician performance, safety compliance, and project delivery across large-scale structured cabling and data center projects.
This leadership role will report directly to the COO and play a critical role in scaling operational performance, improving field execution, supporting technician development, and ensuring world-class customer satisfaction.
We are looking for a hands-on operational leader with strong experience in low voltage, structured cabling, data centers, and field operations management who can build processes, lead teams, and drive accountability across all aspects of operations.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations Leadership
Oversee and direct all field personnel and operational activities
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and with best-in-class craftsmanship
Manage technician scheduling and field staffing based on project workload
Support project execution by coordinating field delivery teams for current and future projects
Serve as the primary liaison for subcontractor partnerships and vendor relationships
Conduct field QA/QC inspections to ensure compliance with customer and industry standards
Monitor productivity and operational efficiency across all active projects
Support and mentor field leadership to maximize technician performance and growth
Operational Development & Strategy
Develop long-term operational strategies aligned with company growth objectives
Build and implement internal operational systems and scalable workflows
Develop future field leaders through mentorship and leadership development
Manage testing equipment inventory, uptime, calibration, and software updates
Oversee time tracking software and all related operational functions
Training & Technician Development
Develop and launch an internal BICSI-focused technician training program
Create structured onboarding and continued education programs for field teams
Support technician growth through certifications, mentorship, and performance development
Safety & Compliance
Develop and implement company-wide safety policies, protocols, and manuals
Conduct regular field safety audits and inspections
Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and industry regulations
Lead toolbox talks and ongoing safety training initiatives
Investigate incidents and near misses while implementing corrective actions
Maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting
Manage PPE distribution and compliance across all field personnel
Collaborate with regulatory agencies and ensure operational compliance standards are maintained
Track safety metrics and continuously improve safety performance initiatives
Qualifications
10+ years of leadership experience in structured cabling, low voltage, or data center operations
Strong background managing field technicians and large-scale deployment teams
Experience with QA/QC processes, workforce planning, and project operations
Deep understanding of OSHA standards and field safety compliance
Experience developing operational processes and training programs
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
BICSI certifications or experience supporting BICSI standards preferred
Ability to travel to project sites as needed
