Position Title: Radial Drill Press Set Up and Operator
Wage: $26.00/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm
QPS Employment Group is hiring a Radial Drill Press Set Up and Operator for a company in Milwaukee, WI. This is a potential to hire opportunity on 1st shift.
Radial Drill Press Set Up and Operator Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set up and adjust radial drill press equipment according to job specifications and work orders
- Select and install appropriate drills, reamers, taps, countersinks, and other tooling
- Position, align, and secure workpieces using fixtures, clamps, vises, and jigs
- Determine proper spindle speeds and feed rates based on material specifications
- Verify machine setup and perform first-piece inspections prior to production
- Operate radial drill presses to perform drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, and countersinking operations
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality standards
- Inspect finished parts and verify compliance with blueprint specifications
- Remove burrs and perform minor finishing operations as required
- Complete production and quality documentation accurately
- Safely operate overhead bridge cranes and hoists to move, position, and secure large or heavy workpieces
- Inspect lifting devices, slings, chains, hooks, and rigging equipment prior to use
- Determine proper rigging methods and load balance for safe material handling
- Follow all crane operating procedures and load capacity requirements
- Coordinate material movement safely with coworkers and production personnel
- Safely load and unload materials from machines, pallets, and workstations
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and manufacturing specifications
- Understand dimensions, tolerances, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), machining symbols, and notes
- Identify hole locations, diameters, depths, thread callouts, and machining requirements
- Verify completed work against blueprint requirements and quality standards
- Perform layout and measurement calculations using shop mathematics
- Utilize precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, dial indicators, bore gauges, steel rules, and tape measures
- Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections
- Ensure conformance to dimensional and quality requirements
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and machine safety procedures
- Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Report equipment malfunctions and safety concerns promptly
- Properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Radial Drill Press Set Up and Operator Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of machining or radial drill press experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
- Experience operating overhead cranes and material handling equipment
- Knowledge of rigging practices and safe lifting procedures
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments accurately
- Understanding of drilling, tapping, reaming, and boring operations
- Strong shop mathematics skills, including fractions, decimals, and geometry
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment
