Position Title: Maintenance Technician
Wage: $22.00 - $30.00/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm (Monday - Friday)
QPS Employment Group is actively seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician for a direct hire opportunity with a manufacturing client in Decatur, IL. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on technician who excels in troubleshooting and maintaining legacy industrial equipment in a team-focused environment.
The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring continuous production by performing troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment and facility systems. This role is ideal for a well-rounded “generalist” technician with strong mechanical aptitude, basic electrical knowledge, and experience supporting older/legacy equipment.
Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment to minimize downtime
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on equipment and facility systems
- Support powder and liquid coating systems, spray lines, blasting equipment, and conveyor systems (chain-driven)
- Maintain facility systems including compressors, filters, plumbing, lighting, and general building upkeep
- Accurately document maintenance activities and keep records current
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members on repair status and priorities
- Follow all safety procedures and properly utilize required PPE
- Contribute as a self-motivated team player to complete maintenance tasks as needed
Requirements for Maintenance Technician:
- Experience with powder coat and liquid coat systems as well as spray lines and blasting systems
- Exposure to preventative maintenance programs (PM); currently transitioning from reactive maintenance
- Basic knowledge of PLCs is helpful, but not required (equipment is not PLC-driven)
- Background in facilities maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, and lighting
- Technical training or certifications (industrial maintenance, HVAC, mechanical, military, or trade school) preferred
- Strong general maintenance experience across mechanical, electrical, and facility systems
- Experience working in industrial or manufacturing environments (legacy equipment preferred)
- Familiarity with pneumatics and compressor systems (strongly preferred), basic electrical systems up to 480V and conveyor systems and coating/finishing equipment
- Hands-on, practical problem solver with strong troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable working on older equipment in a “legacy” environment
- Safety-conscious with strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated and adaptable team player
- Open to working across multiple maintenance disciplines as needed
