Position Title: Quality Technician

Wage: $22.00 - $23.50/Hour

Shift: 1st Shift, 2nd Shift, 3rd Shift
 
Hours: 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM
 
QPS Employment Group is looking for Quality Technicians for our customer in Des Plaines, IL. As a Quality Technician, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the highest quality standards for extruded products. Your keen eye for detail and commitment to precision will be essential in ensuring that every product meets our clients rigorous specifications. Apply today!

Quality Technician Responsibilities:
- Use calipers (inside and outside), micrometer, gauges, other measuring devices and “samples” to ensure quality-finished product meets specifications
- Audit production and skids online, and check line speed
- Read product drawings, specification sheet, and shop orders to determine: Packaging requirements, Product specification and dimensions, Material requirements
- Communicate with Extruder Operator and/or Cell Lead when product is not within specifications
- Inspect at start-up and approve for continued production. Log all processing parameters and equipment used
- Enter the Extrusion data into Hot Sheet and contact the Production person or Cell Lead for corrections, if the report is not correct
- Check color with Spectrophotometer
- Check color let down % enter into access. Part of the start-up process and audit function (as needed)
- Verifying calipers and tape measures, and entering the results into the Calibration program for their shift
- Issue hold tickets when part quality is not to job specification
- With training, must be able to use gauges, six (6) foot scale, Romidot profile scanner, optical comparator, X-rite color meter (spectrophotometer), gloss meter, foot meter, inside/outside calipers, and other measuring devices
- Must be able to use measuring devices to .001” and 1/32nd inch scale
- Measuring skills, using calipers, comparator, Romidot, tape measure, steel rule, durometer tester, Gardner impactor tester, light box – visual color and appearance comparison, thickness gages, plug gages, pin gages, drop indicator, surface plate & force gages
- Strictly adheres to Company and Plant safety policies and procedures
- Training and communicating with Packaging Operators on proper procedures related to the I/R sheet, Extrusion Reports, printing labels, using calipers, gages, tape measure, bow, square cut, and fit & function of parts
- Maintain awareness on Company policies and procedures

Requirements For Quality Technician:
- Able to lift 40 pounds repetitively
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Works in manufacturing environment occasionally being exposed to dust, odors, fumes, and noise
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Preferred to have worked in the extrusion department and have good working knowledge of the extrusion process and materials
- Preferred to have advanced knowledge of quality functions and processes
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Word and Excel)
- Must be able to communicate in English, both written and verbally
