Position Title: Prep Cook
Wage: $15.75/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 6:30am - 5:00pm (Monday - Thursday, Friday as Needed)
We are hiring a reliable and hardworking Prep Cook in Grinnell, IA to prepare food and ingredients for cooking in kettles and mixers. This position is responsible for maintaining an efficient prep area while following strict food safety, quality, and production standards.
Prep Cook Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain an efficient prep room setup
- Review daily kitchen needs and prepare ingredients accordingly
- Prepare batches accurately and complete required sign-offs
- Weigh ingredients as needed
- Open boxed ingredients and transfer them into pans
- Operate stick blenders and other equipment
- Return equipment to the dish room after use
- Inspect equipment before use to ensure it is clean and ready
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, GMP, and production procedures
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Complete required training and follow all department SOPs and food safety programs
Requirements for Prep Cook:
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Good communication skills
- Basic reading comprehension
- Basic math, weight, and measurement skills
- Previous prep cook experience preferred
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required
- Ability to stand and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift
- Frequent use of hands and arms to handle equipment, ingredients, and tools
- Ability to occasionally walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in variable temperatures, including hot and cold environments
