Position Title: Material Handler
Wage: $16.00 per hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 7:00am-3:00pm (Mon-Thurs)
QPS Employment Group has a great Material Handler position available at a well-established Rockford manufacturer. This is a 1st shift position with the opportunity for hire.
Material Handler Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for operating power forklift truck or hand truck in a safe manner.
- Delivers metal strips or blanks to production lines placed on stock tables or platforms.
- Delivers unassembled cases or bags to work area for assembly.
- Delivers product-filled cases on strapped pallets to designated staging areas for transportation to warehouses. Upon request, may be required to deliver finished product to warehouse.
- Transports scrap to designated areas as required.
- Performs color changes.
- Position requires pushing, pulling or lifting heavy objects ranging up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Keeps departmental work areas, aisles and storage areas safe, orderly and free of obstruction - such as empty skids, pallets or trays, spoiled products, scrap boxes and pallet loads of finished products, etc.
- May be called upon to train or assist in the training of new material handlers.
Material Handler Requirements:
- Must be able to operate powered handtruck, assorted handtrucks, pallet and skids, tape gun, vacu-hoist, gloves, various cartons/cases/bags, banding equipment and tin shears.
- Will operate computer terminal and other office equipment.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must be able to read and understand production instructions, quality control instructions, and perform math calculations using decimals.
- Must read scales and various types of calipers.
- Must maintain minimum certification requirements.
