Job Description

Position Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Wage: $27.68/hour

Shift: 3rd

Hours: 10pm-6am

QPS Employment Group is hiring for a Maintenance Mechanic in the Milwaukee area. This is a direct hire opportunity.

Maintenance Mechanic Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform a variety of highly skilled maintenance work that requires an in-depth knowledge of various trades, including mechanical and pneumatics
- Basic knowledge of electrical, industrial refrigeration and programmable logic controls (PLCs) will also be used to troubleshoot, repair, install, adjust and maintain processing and packaging machinery, devices, moving parts and equipment that operate on electrical, heating, plumbing, refrigeration, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc., principles
- Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs
- Conduct corrective and routine preventive maintenance on industrial food processing and line packaging equipment, including motors, pumps and valve; prepare all documentation as required
- Inspect equipment, structures, parts, or materials to identify breakage, excessive wear, or the cause of errors, problems, or defects; also inspect to determine adjustments or repairs needed
- Respond and partner with operators to identify problems; observe, identify, and diagnose malfunctions in machines, including analyzing machine error messages and information obtained from operators, to determine required solution
- Read and understand blueprints, schematics, specifications, technical drawings, work orders, processing charts and manufacturers' manuals to determine correct set-up and operation of machinery
- Perform minor machining and welding tasks in order to fabricate new parts or repair broken metal parts, tubing, conduit, etc.
- Perform facility maintenance activities as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of maintenance shop; assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory and reporting low inventory levels to appropriate personnel
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned
- Adheres to all Plant Safety, Food Safety, GMP, including sanitary requirements and Standardized Work procedures

Maintenance Mechanic Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Technical degree in industrial maintenance or related field is preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent education in a related field
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to interact with all levels of staff
- General knowledge of OSHA Codes, GMP's and sanitary design
- Basic knowledge of environmental regulations
- Experience with Computer Maintenance Management Systems is preferred
- 2 years in food or beverage manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate mechanical competency and is able to perform some work on support equipment
- Willing and able to adhere to all safety standards and wear all necessary personal protective equipment
- Proficient interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to interact with all levels of staff
- Detail-oriented nature and precision is critical to ensure products adhere to designated quality and standards
- Able to operate a forklift or be willing to obtain forklift certification
- Work independently as well as effectively in a team environment
- Frequently talk and/or hear, and/or use fingers and hands to handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls
- Regularly stand, walk, and/or sit and may occasionally reach above shoulders, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Handling of average-weight objects up to 50lbs with occasional lifting of dock doors and push/pull requirements of up to 125lbs
- Work schedules may include both weekday and weekend overtime as needed
- May work outside and in adverse temperatures which include extreme hot, cold, and humidity
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration
