Job Description

Position Title: Maintenance Technician

Wage: $35.00/hour

Shift: 1st

Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
- Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic, software, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics to perform required maintenance and service
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
- Perform a variety of light plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
- Order and maintain an inventory of all critical machine and equipment parts and tools
- Keep current all repair and maintenance records

Qualifications

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Education and/or Experience

 

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years’ experience in a production-oriented environment. Proven experience and skill in repairing and maintaining machines and equipment

 

Preferred: 5+ years of relevant experience. Food safety training and experience working with food products. Experience working in a certified organic and/or certified food safe facility. Machine operating experience, preferably food packaging equipment. Experience working long shifts (10 – 12 hour). A solid work history showing multiple years’ tenure at previous jobs and no unexplained extended gaps in employment. An interest in tea and/or organic foods is preferred.

 

Language Skills

 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, work instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals which are written in English. Ability to effectively communicate information via verbal or written mediums. Ability to speak effectively and present information to coworkers and supervisors as needed.

 

Mathematical Skills

 

Ability to count and mentally track counts and tallies. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to effectively use a calculator.

 

Reasoning Ability

 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.

 

Computer Skills

 

Required to use basic touch screen controls and inputs.

May need to perform on-line research and ordering

Work with basic excel or word

Able to work with software application.

 

Other Skills and Abilities

 

Ability to multi-task. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work under dynamic schedule constraints and consistently meet deliverable timelines.
