Position Title: Grinder

Wage: $18.00 - $19.00/hour

Shift: 2nd

Hours: 3:00pm – 11:30pm

Position Overview:
As a Grinder, you will play a crucial role in the production process by preparing metal surfaces for welding, painting, or finishing. You will operate various grinding equipment and tools to achieve specified dimensions, smoothness, and surface quality on metal components. Attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to quality are essential for success in this role.

Grinder Responsibilities:
- Operate grinding machines and tools to remove excess material, burrs, weld spatter, and surface imperfections from metal components according to specifications
- Set up and adjust grinding machines to achieve desired results, including selecting appropriate grinding wheels and adjusting machine controls
- Inspect workpieces for defects or irregularities before and after grinding operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards
- Measure dimensions of workpieces using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, or gauges to verify conformance to specifications
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area, including proper disposal of grinding debris and waste materials
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform routine maintenance tasks to keep grinding machines in optimal working condition
- Document work activities, including production quantities, inspection results, and any issues encountered during the grinding process

Requirements for Grinder:
- High School Diploma or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred
- Proficiency in operating grinding machines and tools, with knowledge of different types of abrasives and grinding techniques
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, or work instructions
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods, lift heavy materials, and perform repetitive tasks
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety regulations and procedures
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes in the metal fabrication industry
