Job Description

Position Title: Fabricator

Salary: $45,760-$54,080/year

Shift: 1st

Hours: 6:00am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday

QPS is looking for a MIG Welder/Fabricator for a capital equipment manufacturing team in Kansas City, KS. This role involves fabricating complex, heavy-duty equipment used in the mulch dye and rock quarry industries. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fabrication environment and collaborating with a team to build equipment with multiple moving components. This is a direct hire opportunity on 1st shift.

Fabricator Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Work directly with the shop supervisor, customer, drafter, and peers to produce finished products
- Interpret drawings and fit materials to print
- Good working knowledge of wire and filler material applications for various steel fabrication
- Finish grinding applications using manual and power tools
- Utilize knowledge of various machines, welding practices, mathematics, and building materials
- Read and interpret drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of welding shop operations
- Safety-conscious and have good housekeeping practices
- Work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced

Fabricator Requirements:
- High school diploma / GED
- Forklift experience
- Assembly and welding experience a plus
- Proficient in modern welding techniques and equipment
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and future random drug testing
- Ability to work overtime as needed to meet production deadlines
- Blueprint reading
- Attention to detail
- Time management
- Ability to work under temperature variations based on weather and production equipment
- Eagerness to learn new skills
- Accept and follow instructions from multiple supervisors
- Self-motivated, can work independently but also perform well within teams or work groups
- Ability to collaborate with team members
- Awareness of surroundings and basic occupational health and safety practices
- Flexibility and patience for adjusting to changing customer needs
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 8-10 hours per shift, with periodic breaks
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and climb frequently throughout the workday
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms
- Ability to work for extended periods in a non-temperature-controlled industrial environment, while adhering to all safety policies and PPE requirements
