Position Title: Custodian
Wage: $19.21 per hour
Shift: 1st
Hours: 6:00am-2:30pm (Mon-Fri)
QPS Employment Group has a great Custodian position available at a company in Saint Charles, MO. This is a 1st shift position with the opportunity for hire.
Custodian Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Sets up and operates cleaning equipment.
- Cleans, sanitizes, and supplies bathrooms and kitchens.
- Replenishes supplies such as hand soap, paper towels and toilet paper.
- Follows cleaning and maintenance schedules for office, plant, and grounds.
- Regularly empties trash and recycling receptacles.
- Cleans the following but is not limited to floors, windows, fixtures, stairs, restrooms, break rooms, and doors.
- Assists with set-ups and tears down furnishings when necessary.
- Performs preventative maintenance of cleaning equipment and hand tools to keep them in good working order.
- Performs routine maintenance such as changing light bulbs, waxing floors, and cleaning furniture.
- Uses, maintains, and properly stores all custodial equipment and supplies.
- Keeps both plant and office clean, safe, and organized.
- Maintains a list of cleaning supplies and requests additional inventory proactively.
- Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate department.
- Performs minor repairs.
- Proactively leads temporary associates.
- Makes suggestions to save time and costs.
- Can perform all tasks with little or no supervision.
- Performs tasks safely including wearing safety glasses and gloves as described in JHA requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Custodian Requirements:
- Self-motivated to complete all tasks in a safe, efficient, and ergonomically correct manner.
- Work experience as a custodian, janitor or similar role preferred.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Understanding of safety protocols such as disposal of chemicals and other hazardous items.
- Diligence and conscientiousness.
- Capacity to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, and reaches to work overhead.
- Walks or stands for a minimum of 8 hours with limited breaks.
- Pushes and pulls materials, fingers and grasps parts and components.
- Exerts up to fifty pounds of force frequently.
- Tolerates extremes in weather and machine temperature.
- Tolerates loud noise.
- Extensive use with power/hand tools.
- Requires visual acuity to access details (I.e., prints, parts, work orders, etc.)
- Requires communication skills so ideas and instructions can be given clearly and/or quickly and understood.
- Requires the ability to distinguish between speech, machinery, and other sounds to understand instructions and/or directions.
